‘Rangeen Payal’ translates to colourful anklet, and the inspiration comes from Lada’s earnest desire to replace the kada on her feet with a bright-coloured anklet. She even named her youngest daughter Payal. Leaving fringes at the bottom, she wove flowers, petals, folded hands and pixels, switching between colours. It grabs your attention because of the proper balance of blue, orange and white. Her Manchaha paints contrast using a harmonious spectrum of light and dark which is a pleasure to see.

The rug is a creative take on how would life be inside waters. Lada weaved lotuses, dolphins and other aquatic life that she dreamt of with her eyes open. Furthermore somewhere between the rug, she also weaved food for the fish so that they don’t die of hunger. She aptly calls her rug, “Machli ka Ghar” or the house of fish.

The rug is a creative take on her inclination for ‘everything blue’. After imagining life in blue, she weaved her favorite patterns and flowers to beautify this rug. The rug also talks about the festivities of the village which have been expressed through traditional patterns that are painted during festivals like diwali or a wedding.

“My son is now an engineer, I weaved this rug after taking inspiration from the book that he reads on engineering, I don’t understand the diagrams much but this is what I could make”, explains Lada in a happy tone that sparkles positivity and contentment. The patterns woven on the rug reflect her happiness and hope that she has from the coming future. Her daughter too is a bright student and is currently in the first year of her graduation.
