The Design Story
hamari taalmelHamari TaalmelThey say, “Too many cooks spoil the broth,” but these six and their hand-knotted rug proved it wrong. Priyanka, Neha, Nirmala, Sitaram, Sugana, and Dayaram came together to work on this Manchaha. This marvelous rug is proof that art can be coordinated. And so they have named it “Humaari Taalmel,” which translates to “Our coordination.” Initially, someone else worked on this carpet and created the flower designs. Later, Priyanka took over the designs and helped others design the rug. They admit that it was hard to decide on designs initially. They constantly questioned themselves as to how to do it. They even paused the work for a while in between. However, they soon resumed the work, drawing inspiration from electric poles, cacti, kites, designs from other clothes, and flowers. The process soon became easy as they managed to ace their coordination. Humorously, they made a point that even if they were blindfolded, they could weave. Nothing will ever do if this doesn’t describe the beauty of art.
