The dark, rouge shades of this rug have been inspired from the beauty of the rose flower. Anjana loves to grow roses and collect them. For this rug, she wondered how beautiful rose petals would look if she floats them on water. She used a mix of reds and pinks to add a floral touch to this rug. She even wove her name in the middle of the rug to send her blessings to the home this rug goes to. Like a string of rose petals scattered all over, this rug is Anjana’s vision of a floral river.

Anjani placed a lot of elements from the nature that surrounds her village, in her first Artisan Originals rug. It's for this reason she named it 'Prakartik Sampada', which means natural treasures or resources. She loves the land that encompasses her village and believes it to be filled with unmatched beauty and wanted to knot that beauty throughout her rug. Using earthy tones of browns and tans to create a natural landscape, Anjana ensured that the entirety of the rug captured her love of the environment. The central figure of the rug is a large tree, detailed with branches, leaves, and flowers in shades of blue. And on either side, exists a representation of her cozy home and a guitar-shaped bouquet of flowers that her children insisted on being there. She started out with simple designs but as the rug progressed and she gained confidence she added more complex shapes and patterns, often dreaming about what she wanted to place next. As a firm believer that all life is equal, she really wanted to place some of her favorite animals on the rug, but then after realizing that people may step on them, she decided to focus on just flora.

Anjana requested her rug to be called ‘Vaan’ or as you may call it, a forest. Her rug is a true depiction of her love for flora and fauna. While weaving, she assured that she is doing an equal justice to both the flora as well as the fauna. “Both are important, I couldn’t have missed any” she says

The name of the rug, ‘Jadd’, which means ‘roots’ is derived from the most distinguished design on it- the tree and its roots. Anjana loves gardening, but she doesn’t have much space in the house. Since her husband does a lot of construction, he keeps doing something or the other to fill up the space and she doesn’t have space to keep plants as much as she’d like. So, she has woven a tree in the rug and more distinctly, its roots too. She constantly transplants young plants and even splits the root to multiply the plant, so she’s very connected to the root of the plant. She’s woven in a house in the rug and next to it is a tree with roots – playing on the fact that she can’t grow a tree in her house. She is pained when she moves a plant and doesn’t want to move its roots, so she’s woven in strong roots in her rug with that desire. “If the roots stay, it has the capacity to grow tall, and even create a new plant. It spreads love on its own,” says the thoughtful artist. Her name is also woven in Hindi while Divya’s is woven in English.
