‘Rimjim’ which means the slow patter of drizzling rain seems to be a fitting name for this rug by Mahaveer. It has an earthy blue look to it with even the small flower motifs being in blue, green or brown. The types of flowers on the rug, are what Mahaveer observed on his daughter’s clothes, but he seemed to describe a state of meditation while weaving. He says, “I didn’t need to think much while making this design, I started weaving and there it was.” This rug has a calming effect on those that love the rain, and Mahaveer wants this rug to be in a home where it removes the drought and brings in peace.

Mahaveer’s magnificent journey as an artisan brightened his path as he overcame darkness, ‘Roshni’ which means bright light, is his expression to how Manchaha brought the spark back into his life as his eyesight diminished his will. His creative imagination is his clarity, and in this rug you’ll find sharp shapes, flowers and leaves among zig-zag lines that are a challenge to anyone questioning his vision. “As Manchaha brought Roshni to my life, this light can find a way to brighten up yours too”, he says confidently.

This Manchaha is likened to peeping into a long ventilator; it seems to have many openings which let the light fall through. After he lost his eyesight, weaving gave wings to his imagination where he could see and play with all the colors of life and even showcase his art to the world. The narrow and wide openings within the rug make the black and white side bright. Roshan Dhan means the source of sunshine, so let your house have some.

Mani used to complain to her husband Mahaveer for not pampering her with flowers. So, Mahaveer, using his greatest skill which is rug weaving, wove an entire garden of red flowers for her. This is where the rug gets its name ‘Lal Bagh’ from, which means red garden. The rug tells a heart-warming story of this husband and wife duo who complete each other by filling up for each other’s lacks and weaknesses.
