In her design there are boxes, classic Rajasthani Leheriya pattern and beautiful butterflies – all present on the rug. Also it was Diwali time when Suman Devi started weaving this rug hence she took a note of whatever was happening around and included all Diwali elements on the rug. One finds motifs like Diyas ( small clay and oil lamps), candles, and Indian crackers like Tikdi weaved on the rug. Bordering the rug is a chain pattern, from where the rug gets its name “Badi chain” (long chain).

It was Spring and that inspired Suman to weave this colorful rug, Sawan ka Jhoola or the swing of spring. “I wanted to weave a design that is far from getting old so I weaved evergreen designs of small windows, butterflies and the bliss of spring. I hope that the rug brings enormous positivity and joys to the house of customer who buys this rug.

Shaddi ka Mandap which translates to ‘a wedding bower’ is how Pintu describes her rug. She says, “It was raining 2 to 3 days before my marriage. It had rained so heavily that it felt like nature was celebrating my marriage.” In her rug, she has woven raindrops that remind her of her marriage along with insects that crawl up during the rainy season from the wet and uncemented floor. Further, there are elements like mountains, stars and chillies in her Manchaha.

Baishno Mata ki Sidhiyaan is what Suman calls her carpet after the Goddess Vaishno Devi and her experience of the pilgrimage to her temple in the Himalayas. She has designed the stairs that take the devotees to the shrine of the Goddess, where they share all their troubles and hopes to return rejuvenated and with newfound purpose.
