shravani has always been drawn to the fields and farming. she has a good knowledge of cropping patterns and is very adept at harvesting. hence, it was very natural for her to take inspiration from the fields. shravani’s rug is laden with imagery of a harvest, which is where the rug gets its name. the top of the rug reflects the clouds that pour rain on the fields, flowing down to the soil which slowly culminates into crops that are reaped when the harvest season arrives. the whole concept of sowing, harvesting, and reaping is represented by traditional design elements of shakarparas, little boxes, polka-dots along with patterns of jhaalar and leheriya. the crops are symbolized by flowers and plants. the artisan wanted to symbolize prosperity and love on her carpet, just as what the harvest provides to the farmers.
