albelaalbela which means a wanderer who explores his own traits and desires is how the couple describe their rug. shishu pal clearly depicts the behaviour of a wanderer who will roam around and do things as per his will. taking inspiration from henna designs that mena draws, she wanted to weave it in her manchaha as well. towards the right she started weaving flower vines. while, shishu pal following his heart started weaving in opposite angles towards the left. seeing which mena said, “yeh bel nahi albel hai!” hence, the rug came out to be exactly the opposite of what mena had recommended in the first place. the couple used subtle hues of pink, yellow, orange to weave flowers, and play around the geometrical designs like parallel diagonals, mountains and diamond shaped structures.
