Rajasthan Art comes alive at the design carnival in pink city: In its second edition of Jaipur Design Carnival, Pearl Academy brought alive the colors of Rajasthan in the city campus. The two-day festival, held on May 13 and 14, provided an interactive platform that successfully engaged many intellectuals, creative aspirants and budding talent from the country. The festival included residency workshops on making toys, lime jaali, how to go about ply-split braiding coupled with innovative demonstrations of different designs and art work
The graduating batch of School of Design as well as School of Fashion, Styling & Textiles of the academy displayed ingenious projects. The jewelry projects of the students, already picked up and sponsored by renowned jewelry brands, impressed the visitors. Fashion designer Manish Malhotra inaugurated the incubation Centre, Canvass, at Pearl Academy. Aimed at boosting entrepreneurship among students, Canvass will provide infrastructure and industry mentoring to help students’ entrepreneurial ideas to become a reality. Ramalingam Seetharaman, campus director at Pearl Academy Jaipur, said, “It was a proud moment to see the designs and works of our students on display. Such engaging sessions and exchange of ideas play a significant role in promoting local art and craftsmanship, and bringing them closer to our design students who, we hope, will take the legacy forward through their work. We also hope that Canvass will boost India’s start-up movement and get more fashion entrepreneurs to join the start-up bandwagon.” The two-day carnival concluded with a musical performance by Omar Farooq.
