Madhu is 25 years old from Dhanota, Rajasthan, and has been weaving from last 2 years. Her neighbor was her guide to the art, teaching her to weave so that she can support her family as well. As a weaver she is very young, raw and innocent. This attribute makes her transform extremely simple designs into exclusive and unique peices. She brings small elements from her life and draws in it into the carpet. Madhu is very attached with her children, and you’ll find that many of her designs are inspired by the things they love.
Gubarra Mein KalakandMadhu and her love for Kalakand, a traditional sweet, is known to all her friends and family. Every Sunday she cooks this sweet, and the soft texture and brown colour in the carpet guides you to a journey of sweetness. The twist in the carpet are the balloons which her kids play with and in fact try to hide the sweet inside it so that they can save it for later in the day. ‘Gubarra mein kalakand’ means sweets in a balloon, and portrays the innocence and love shared in the family which you can clearly feel by just having a glance at it.
