Very talkative and energetic, Pushpa will leave you stunned with her speed of weaving rugs. She is 32 years old and is an inhabitant in the Manpura village of Rajasthan. “My father always suggested me to learn rug weaving. He was of the opinion that if you know something, it will help you someday or the other. Look he was right. Today, I am able to support my family with my art of weaving rugs,” she explains with a confident smile on her face.
AngelPushpa suggested her rug to be named, Angel. “I weaved this rug with a lot of love and care, the way I care for my niece, Angel. Hence, this name,” she says with an innocent smile on her face. She weaved traditional motifs on her rug, ranging from Shakkarpara to Leheriya to some tribal painting designs. Pushpa further explained that when she started weaving this rug, she was very hesitant and thought it will be rejected but when she saw the outcome she couldn’t believe that she made it.
