Reena is a 26-year-old artisan from Madhogarh, Rajasthan. She is determined and weaves her rugs with such precision and accuracy that the quality supervisor is always pleased and takes this particular visit as a break. She quickly picked up the art of weaving while roaming around in her village, as there were many looms and it was what she perceived as a normal life. She remembers first throwing a fit to try a knot when she was just 11-years-old, and she knows it was her calling to be an artisan. She is a mother of three and is keen to see how her children can take weaving forward, as even she took it a step further with her own designs.
Madhogarh ka Naksha‘Madhogarh ka Naksha’ which translates to map of Madhogarh is how Reena describes her Manchaha. When she goes to buy essentials from the market, the passage is covered with lush green scenic beauty. She treads on it alone while the surroundings become her companion. Madhogarh is near Pratapgarh which is known for its natural landscape, castles and mountains. Structures like Mahals, made by ancient kings, adorn the top of it. While traversing from Pratapgarh to Madhogarh, she is not able to take her eyes off from the view she sees. In the rug, she tried weaving all the beautiful sceneries that she comes across on a regular basis. Towards the left of the carpet, you will see mountains and small trees with water cascading down them. She wanted her rug to have an essence of Madhogarh but she did not have any map to show it. Therefore, she weaved one through her Manchaha.
