Manju is 35 years old and has been weaving rugs from past 10 years now. “Earlier it was a hobby, I enjoyed weaving along with my mother and soon it became my work and passion”, she says with a smile. She is a mother of two boys and two girls and her entire family is a great admirer of her cooking abilities. If you have any plans to visit Samarthpura village in Rajasthan, don’t forget to meet our designer cum chef, Manju.
Mehandi Ka Khet ‘Mehandi Ka Khet’ or ‘The farm of Henna’ inspired our weaver designer Manju to weave this elegant yet detailed Manchaha. “I love the fresh fragrance and color of henna. It is considered to be very auspicious in our village. In fact, weddings and festivals are incomplete without applying henna on hands therefore I weaved a farm of henna on my rug so that the buyer of the rug be blessed with enormous good fortune and prosperity,” says Manju with a lovely smile that radiates positivity and happiness.
