Laxmi lives in a small village called Kishanpur in Rajasthan. She picked up the art of weaving in her childhood, and has been weaving for the past 22 years now. She has 3 children: 2 daughters and a son. Her husband works as a mason in the village. She says that carpet weaving enables her to pay fees for her childrens’ education, and also gives her the freedom to imagine beyond the skies.
Laxmi ka Kitchen A beautiful kitchen with little boxes of sweets and spices, such was the inspiration for Laxmi behind weaving this rug. She weaved cubical boxes to store her favourite food ingredients and sweets. “I spend most of my time either weaving rugs or cooking food for my family therefore, I mixed the two and created a happy place”, explains Laxmi with an innocent smile that outburst hopes, positivity, simplicity and happiness.
