Birds of different feathers and still working together, Mona and Pushpa, an aunt-niece duo from Kekri, Rajasthan spend their days tag teaming on the loom. Mona has over 25 years of weaving experience and taught Pushpa the art over the last year. Mona is loud, confident and quite the comedian, while Pushpa is timid, quiet but certain of her steps. This perfectly balanced duo is always ready for a challenge, and a rug of their own design was a great place to start!
RishtaMona and Pushpa are often called soul sisters. This carpet shows their sync, love and care they share. The tangled shapes show how much they see from the eyes of the other, and how they stand for one another. Their collaboration and compatibility makes this carpet a combination of two different minds but one soul. The joy of having a bond with your beloved is what this Manchaha conveys. ‘Rishta’ means relationship or bond, and it is a perfect exemplification of the bond they share.
