Filled with positivity, hopes and spirituality, Mamta is 20 years old and resides in Sawar village in Rajasthan. She has been weaving rugs from past one year and takes pride in being an artisan. She is a very beloved member of her family and is very special to both her brothers who respect her for her skills and art. “I love weaving, it makes me feel independent. When I was 10 years old, I used to replicate my mother and that is how I got to learn this art so quickly”, she says with a smile.
JhoomarMamta once came to Jaipur city, along with her colleagues for a carpet training program. She just happened to drive by City Palace and was suddenly curious about what a chandelier looked like. ‘Jhoomar’ means chandelier, and she noticed how everyone she asked talked about how grand and complicated it is. She decided to make her own design, inspired by many intricate patterns she noticed, and left the rest to her imagination. You find her beautiful interpretation of a chandelier in her Manchaha, and it brings in a feel of royalty, straight from the heart.
