Guddi is a 25-year-old weaver from Khora, Rajasthan. She learned to weave from her mother at a young age of fifteen. She was keen to pick up the art before she could take it up as work. Weaving tied an integral bond that she shared with her mother and soon, it became an important part of her life as she spends most of her days weaving along with her sister-in-law, Suman (27). They love weaving together as a team because they can work and even look after their homes simultaneously. Guddi is a mother of two daughters. While she is at the loom, her sisters look after them.
Guddi aur KamleshWoven as an ode to Guddi’s friendship with Kamlesh, this rug is a lesson in how simplicity can be extraordinary when it takes root in honest stories. Kamlesh is Guddi’s friend whom she calls when she has to complete an order urgently. She spends a lot of time with her, and whenever Guddi is in trouble, Kamlesh has her always back. Even though they spend most of the time together at the loom, they have an unsaid relationship wherein they are extremely supportive of each other. With this Manchaha, Guddi feels like she’s developing a better bond with Kamlesh. Starting from just supporting each other, this Manchaha was the first step to companionship that they didn’t have the opportunity to build yet.
