Sangeeta and Kasturi are a sister duo, 30 and 33 years old respectively, hailing from Garh Bopaji in Rajasthan. They learnt weaving from their parents who are also weavers but resumed the practice after marriage for financial stability. They have been weaving with Jaipur Rugs for the past 5 years. Sangeeta and Kasturi share a very dynamic chemistry and they never fall into a state of monotony as they enjoy each other’s company a lot, something that reflects in their creations. Sangeeta is a mother to two kids, Ankit and Naveen, and Kasturi has two sons, Shridhar and Aniket.
NaveenNamed after Sangeeta’s younger son, ‘Naveen’ also means ‘new’. For their first ever Manchaha, the sisters have pulled all the stops to make designs that are new, non-repetitive, and innovative. Even with traditional rug motifs like that of the shakkarpara, Sangeeta and Kasturi wanted to experiment and give it a new form by molding its lines. They also enjoyed the freedom of choosing new and rarer colours than what they had used so far.
