About Manju

Manju Devi is a 24 years-old weaver from Aaspura, Rajasthan. She has been weaving for the last 8 years. She has one kid and her husband is a daily labour.

Design Story

Tanderiya
Tanderiya means ‘a mash-up of everything’ which is what this rug is. Manju has woven in multiple interesting patterns like trees and plants, shakkarpara and leheriya, making it a visually busy rug. The Manchaha also has a masterful balance of colours and is young, jovial, and vibrant in vibe, just like its weaver.

Vacuum regularly to keep dirt from getting trapped in fibers.
If spills occur, blot immediately. Do not rub the stain.
Rotate occasionally to equalize wear.
Use protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening and piling.
If thread comes out do not pull the yarn, trim with scissor.

How To Identify:

Individual, often uneven knots are visible on the back of these rugs, mirroring the pattern visible on the front.

Individual tufts of yarn are punched into a pre-made backing fabric with a special tufting gun
This tool hooks and pulls yarn through the backing to form loops or piles
This process is less skill and labor-intensive than hand-knotting, so rugs can be completed in a shorter amount of time
