Santosh from Dhanota, Rajasthan is a 35 year-old weaver who is driven by creativity and curiosity. During her childhood, she learnt weaving rugs from her uncle, but her parents wanted her to focus on studies. However, the loom at her uncle’s house always caught her heart and attention. Her journey with the loom started again after her marriage, and it’s been 5 years since she has been weaving. She is a proud mother of two girls and one boy, all of them are school goers and she wishes to see them working for a big company someday.
PrernaSome rugs tell one particular story that is closest to the weaver’s heart, whereas some are simply examples of their design as well as weaving prowess. This rug by Santosh, which translates to ‘inspiration’, is one such creation. Her love for weaving shines bright in this rug as she marries all her favourite designs together in a way that is coherent and aesthetically sound. Featuring myriad patterns and a uniform sense of geometry, the colour palette of the rug is such that it complements a number of the major colour schemes effortlessly. Santosh has woven many rugs and her sense of colour and design are commendable.
