Meera lives with her family in Karana village in Rajasthan. She has 3 daughters and 2 sons, all of whom study in school. She also has 2 goats, and she is very fond of them. Along with her neighbors, she weaves rugs since past 2 years. She loves weaving rugs as that keeps her away from hardcore labor and also lets her use her imagination freely.
Kaveeta
The design of this rug comes from Meera’s love for her village and her surroundings. While weaving the rug, she was occasionally helped by her daughter while she stayed home on school vacation. The rug design is a combination of the things that both of them love. They have shown their house, surrounded by flowers, birds, kites and roads, showcasing the simple but fulfilling life in their village. While making the rug, the mother and daughter would talk about everything but design with Meera allowing her daughter to be guided by her own imagination. Her daughter reciprocated the love by writing her mother’ name in English. Towards the top left corner of the rug, Meera also proudly writes her name in Hindi but calls the rug ‘Kaveeta’ after her daughter.
