Rajjo is our weaver from the small village of Thanagazi in Rajasthan. She started learning the art of weaving rugs from her elder sister when she was 19 years old and has been weaving rugs from past 11 years now. She has a big family of 12 members including her husband, three children and in-laws. Currently, due to some health issues she is not keeping well and her family supports her in all possible ways that they can. “My kids love me the most and they never forget to give me my medicines on time”, she says with a little smile on her face.
SajaawatThe rug is a take on creative little elements that surround the weavers in village. When asked what inspired you to weave this design, Rajjo became quiet at first and then explained, “There was no such inspiration, I just kept my eyes and mind open and weaved everything that I found beautiful around me. I weaved fringes that I saw on my saree and some designs that I saw on my jewelry and on the interiors of our house. ” During her weaving time, a parrot often used to accompany her hence; Rajjo weaved a lush green bush and few parrots around it. The rug is a true collection of everything beautiful.
