Sakrant‘Sakrant’ translates to the ‘Makar Sankranti’, a festival celebrated in Northern India on the 14th of January when people fly kites of all colours and sizes. The kite also forms the central motif in her Manchaha along with flowers, leaves, kalash (pot), and the toys she has seen the local kids play with. The curled lines depict the clouds and the brown colour depicts jaggery which is an important element in the festival. The Manchaha is Laali’s way of reminiscing this celebration that commemorates new beginnings.
