Lali is 40 years old and from Juniya, Rajasthan. She learned how to weave at the age of 12, as a way to invest herself after the loss of her parents, and started weaving for income when she turned 20. Spending most of her life at the loom her designs come out very meditative and with flow, if there’s a stagger, it is definitely intentional. Weaving has not only given her a way to live her life, but it has helped her provide for her large family with six children.
Resham ki dori
‘Resham ki dori’ means strand of silk. It is quite an interesting name chosen for this Manchaha, but it was quite a simple choice for Lali. The name comes from the choice of colours, deep and dark that are usually associated with silk. She wove in the same range of colours in different patterns that give this rug a mesmerizing look, requiring one to stop and stare to see the patterns clearly. Its range also makes this rug perfect for a light or dark setting, an easy choice for any home.
