Murli is 60 years old and has been weaving rugs from the past 45 years. He is so well versed in the art that his fellow weavers call him “Master-ji”, which means boss. He is clear to the messages of his heart and merging that with his skills he always makes a perfect carpet. He lives in Piplai, Rajasthan with his large family of five daughters and two sons.
Prakriti‘Prakriti’ means nature and the nature flows on its own. Without seeking or expecting anything from its external environment, it builds itself. Murli describes his rug in a similar fashion and shares that he continued weaving and the rug took a form of its own much like the magnificent flow of the nature. Patterns and shapes formed on their own like the life processes in the nature, as he meditatively weaved the rug in one and a half months. The colour tones used are similar to the various elements in the nature that exists around and within us. He shares, “I didn’t put much mind to the process and whatever came naturally through me is what is visible in the rug”.
