Soniya, 32, and Kiran, 30, are weavers fromAaspura in Rajasthan. Soniya started weaving when she was 22 years old and turned to the craft as her way of earning as well as her passion. She has 3 kids and Kiran has one kid, and both of their husbands work as daily labour.
Jwalamukhi
Before weaving this Manchaha, Soniya saw a volcano in one of her kid’s books and decided to incorporate that in the design. She also remembered the river from when she visited Banaras, and was so mesmerised by it that she wanted to recreate it in the rug with the help of leheriya designs. They have also woven small boxes, cards, shapes that depict thunder and lightning, mountains, etc.
