Manoj and Sushila are a husband-wife duo from Thanagazi, Rajasthan. Manoj works as a marble cutter in Mumbai and Sushila has a 10 years-long experience in weaving. Whenever Manoj used to come home from Mumbai, Sushila used to teach him how to weave.
Kaam Kaaj‘Kaam Kaaj’ roughly translates to one’s daily work. The rug is named so because during the lockdown, Manoj didn’t have any work in Mumbai and both of them were only weaving rugs at home. The rug’s design map is uncomplicated and has a serene and quiet vibe because that is what the couple observed during the lockdown days- empty roads and quiet neighbourhoods. Sushila has woven in glasses and bottles because her daily work also included fetching water from the nearby solar water tank.
