Sampati is 27 years old and has been weaving rugs from past 12 years now. She lives in Manpura village of Rajasthan and is a mother of two little girls and she aspires to send them both to school. When she first saw her finished Manchaha, her happiness was beyond measures. She called all her neighbors and showed them the rug that she designed and weaved all by herself.
Mera Pehla ManchahaThe rug mera pehla manchaha or my first manchaha is inspired from art and nature that surrounds the life of Sampati in her village. At first, she started off by weaving simple designs but soon she realized that this will make her rug look more like the rug with map and less like an artisan original. Therefore, she dropped the idea of weaving normal flowers and started experimenting with various designs and patterns. She weaved leaves, hearts, and windows. What more? She made her flowers wear a cap at the bottom of the rug. Indeed, the rug reflects the beauty of -creative freedom!
