Koshalya lives with 5 siblings and parents in Kekri region in Rajasthan. She knows the art of weaving since 10 years. She is associated with Jaipur Rugs since past 5 years. Her favorite color is maroon. She believes that the darker the color, the better the design looks. Her parents work in the village as masons. They own a cow, who they call ‘Munni’. Koshalya loves rug weaving as it gives allows her flexibility to work from home while taking care of the household chores.
AumKoshalya had many sleepless nights while thinking about how to start the design of this rug. “Making my own rug was a challenge, and I had to apply a lot of brain into it”. She started with simple designs. As her confidence grew, she started letting her imagination flow. She made a big flower pot in the center of the rug, and made a Toran(garland) around it. She made a Diya(lamp) at the top, and made an ‘Aum’ in the top left of the rug. “I want this rug to bring good luck to the one who buys it”, she says.
