A weaver from last 20 years, Dhafali is really content that her next generation is enrolled in courses like MSc and BEd in Aaspura. Staying in a joint family, she realizes the importance of sharing and growing together. A proud mother of 3 children and wife of a mason, she is now an expert designer of rugs. She is almost finishing with her forth design from what started earlier as an apprehension. Her favorite colours are blue and green.
Living in Aaspura, our weaver Dhafali is very fond of eating the seasonal fruit in Rajasthan called Singhara (Water Chestnut) that grows on marshes and small ponds. She has chosen this as her design inspiration where she has beautifully woven waves on the top and bottom of the rug signifying that water is an essential element for this fruit to grow. In the center of the rug, one can notice a village pot, called Kalash in the local language, which is used to water the plantation. Giving more detailed visuals, Dhafali has also drawn a row of 2 hands joined together in prayer to invoke the blessing of God in all her endeavors.
To the owner of the rug “What you sow today, reaps tomorrow. Take care of the present and good things will follow”.
