One of the best storytellers in her village, Sumitra is 31 years old and has been weaving rugs from past 15 years. She’ll surprise you with her promptness and witty replies. She has an innate love for weaving and also stiches clothes and garments. Very hardworking and diligent, the rugs crafted by her are indeed an amalgamation of her blessings and art.
Jaisalmer Ki JheelJaisalmer Ki Jheel or the lake of Jaisalmer brings with itself an interesting story to narrate. While weaving this rug, Sumitra, got diagnosed with a lump in her body. Initially she decided to discontinue the rug but later, her affection with the rug didn’t let her do so. She realized that if she hands it over to somebody it won’t justify her thoughts and aspirations that she carries for her rug. “I made a big ship in the deserts of Rajasthan and created beautiful scenery that I once saw in a photo frame. The rug kept me busy and I think somehow, it also helped me to recover quickly. Though it got delayed, but I am happy that I completed it”, explains Sumitra with a smile.
