Pinky is the youngest artisan, only working with Jaipur Rugs for five years. Manju and Anita are both happily married and are mothers to young children. They both have been a part of the Jaipur Rugs family for 8 years. With the successful and quick finish of their first Artisan Original rug, all three are excited for similar projects to come and the freedom to explore their creativity as individuals further.
GhoomarThree weavers who have spent years working together, have managed to create something truly eye-catching in just 15 days. As their first Artisan Originals collaboration, the trio put in hours of hard work and pulled together their inspirations from their lives and their surroundings to come up with the rug ‘Ghoomar’. Unaccustomed to being so creative during their usual weaving work days, the women were initially scared of working on this project, however as time went on, they fell into the same level of comfort that they’ve experienced throughout their vast weaving careers. The rug is a medley of elements and patterns that have played a role in their community. The fish at the bottom of the rug were inspired by the tiny fish that often appear feeding at the surface of the lone pond behind their village, while other designs inspired by leheriya, flowers, desserts, and the pearl millet which their families harvest annually, also made an appearance throughout the rug.
