Banarasi is 41 years old woman, and has been weaving from past 20 years. She has 3 kids, 1 daughter, 2 sons. All of them are studying. Her husband passed away three years back. Weaving helped her to support her family and sponsor her kid’s education.
Neeli BelBanarasi knew exactly what to make when she got a chance to make another manchaha. She wanted to express her love for traditional motifs and drawings, which she usually finds in her authentic attire. She has used her favorite blue bold ground color with contrasting shades to give an element of fun. She didn’t want to overpower the rug with big heavy designs and motifs so she decided to fill the rug with small flowers, plants and rangoli design which gives an eclectic feel overall and embellished it with a few Shakkarpara design to break the monotony. She took inspiration from nearby garden and thus named the rug “Neeli-Bel”. She also decorated the rug with popping flower pots which would remind her of her children.
