Gyarsi lives in Narhet village in Rajasthan. She is a mother to three sons. Her husband works as a vegetable vendor in the village. He also mounts ‘Taani’ on the looms when required. She owns two goats, and she loves to spend time with them. She has been weaving since past 20 years, and she believes it helps her unfold her imagination and create pieces of art.
MaalaThe design signifies the love of Gyarsi for her family. She recollects the memories of her marriage, where she had announced her union with her husband by wearing a garland around her neck. Today, she has three children, whom she loves a lot. She divided the design into three parts, with each part dedicated to her three children. She chose the color blue to show her love for her children, which she believes is as boundless as the blue skies. She calls the rug ‘Maala’- meaning the garland, which marked the beginning to a beautiful life, two decades ago.
