Weaving since the age of 18, Sushila has now been weaving rugs for 12 years. “Weaving rugs allow me to follow my passion while also helping me send my two sons to school. The fact that I can carry my family’s burden and earn enough to give education to my children makes me feel so independent and powerful and happy!” she exclaimed with a smile on her face.
Titlion Ka BagichaFor Sushila, the inspiration behind this rug was her daily evening tea sessions with her sons. As she sipped her tea, she would watch the colourful butterflies flap their wings and fly from flower to flower. The rug titlion ka bagicha or the garden of butterflies is a take on her experience at her home’s garden in the village. Each of the flowers in her garden had their own distinct characteristics, and her love for them is which is why she decided to incorporate them in the rug as well.
