Residing in a family of 6 people with 1 goat, Dhafali’s life revolves around weaving and being a homemaker. A true preserver of weaving art, the entire family knows how to weave.Though, uneducated herself Dhafali has ensured good education for all her 3 children and proudly shared that the best moment of her life was when her eldest son became a teacher in a Government school.
Designer weaver, Dhafali, drew inspiration from biscuits and weaved this beautiful rug. Dhafali loves to sip masala chai whenever she gets time and the usual accompaniment with her tea, are biscuits. In her village, she gets two brands of biscuits which are rectangle and diamond shaped and these she innocuously replicates on her rug. She feels weaving self-designed rugs is meditative and many times, she sat by the loom with the biscuits in her hand, and she felt supreme joy. The design of her rug evolved line by line and she chose the colors assuming that consumers will love these contrasts. She says that earlier she used to feel very scared with the idea of weaving a rug with her own design but now she weaves with an open heart. She calls her rug ‘Biscut’ which is how biscuit is pronounced in Hindi.
