Indira, 40, Seeta, 49, and Krishna, 30, are weavera from Ajeetgarh, Rajasthan. It has almost been 25 years since Indira started weaving. She shyly says, “My husband taught me how to weave just after marriage.” Being very young, she was not ready to get married which led to a huge communication gap between the couple. Eventually, her husband started teaching her to tie knots with lots of effort and love and the rug became a medium of communication. The relationship started evolving and so did her weaving. She is a mother of three daughters and two sons.
Ajab Gajab DarwazeBefore starting work on their rug, the three weavers were wondering how to add creativity and wonderful designs in their Manchaha. They took inspiration from the unique and intricately designed doors and gates of their neighbours. They have also added traditional designs like leheriya and small boxes along with stars, biscuits, and even a lotus plant. But the most distinguishing motif they have added is that of the TV celebrities they watch on their daily soaps.
