Shanti is a weaver in Khora village of Rajasthan. She picked up the art of weaving rugs from her parents and it’s been 20 years that she has been involved in rug weaving. She enjoys making Manchaha and loves the concept of weaving from your heart. “Earlier also I used to observe designs and wondered whether how can I create a design of my own. Soon, I got introduced to Manchaha and I felt like my wish just got fulfilled, I love my work even more now”, she narrates with an extraordinary energy that is far from getting unnoticed.
Mera GaaonThe rug ‘Mera Gaaon’ or my village is a reflection of creative visualization and imagination that run through the mind of Shanti while weaving this rug. “I weaved a landscape of my village. I weaved a bee hive that is right near my loom at the village. I also weaved a dog that protects my house and a little blue elephant with a heart on its trunk to spread joys and love to the house of the customer,” says Shanti with a smile. The rug is truly mesmerizing and the detailing of the design is just enough to catch anyone’s attention.
