Rajkumari lives with her family in Kekri region of Rajasthan. A mother of 3, Rajkumari’s life revolves around being a homemaker and a weaver. Her husband works as a mechanic in an automobile shop. She has been weaving for 8 years and is associated with Jaipur Rugs for the past 6 years. She loves the art of rug weaving, and feels that this work allows her to feed her family and her creativity as well.
Rango ka meljaamRajkumari’s rug is filled with intricate symmetrical designs and motifs which she learnt while weaving designer carpets. As it was her first Manchaha, she wanted to start with simpler designs, but to make but as her confidence grew, she started making more complex and intricate patterns. Since childhood, Rajkumari has been very fascinated with life under water, but being from a dry state Rajasthan, she could only imagine witnessing it from her own eyes. Taking this art as an advantage, she weaved her imagination of flowing water, lotus, fishes and aqua flowers and plants on her rug. She tried to make flowing patterns on her by changing the background blue color in different shares to add life to her inspiration. She calls her rug ‘Rango ka Meljaam’, as this rug beautifully creates a cohesive mix of colors.
