Suman and Rajani are two sisters, aged 26 and 25 years old from Karana, Rajasthan. They weave rugs together. Both are young but talented weavers who express themselves through their creations. To Rajani, weaving is a way of securing a brighter and better future for herself. She has had a troubling journey so far, and with the support of her Suman, weaving Manchahas bring out a channel of love that she feels she has missed out on. With their Manchahas, these sisters create an emotion of love.
KhilkilahatSuman and Rajani’s contradicting energies have come together in this rug quite harmoniously. While Suman is very outgoing and expressive, Rajani is quiet and keeps to herself. The rug is named after what Suman’s mother thinks is portrayed in it—a lot of smiles and laughter. It features simple yet deeply personal designs that speak to the sisters and their bond.
