Gyana is a 30 year-old weaver from Kadeda, Rajasthan. She has been weaving for the past 10-12 years, learning the craft from her maternal house as she belongs to a family of rug weavers. She has been looking after family single-handedly after marriage as her husband was preparing for a government exam. Gyana is an extremely responsible woman and is a natural problem-solver. She also has a big sweet tooth and rewards herself with sweets every time she finishes a rug.
Neela PeelaNamed after her favourite colours, blue and yellow, Gyana’s Manchaha has an outline of black, pink, and grey shades. Even her clothes are mostly of blue and yellow and the walls of her house are of the same colour as well. The lines on the rug are woven to differentiate between the colours and the shakkarparas have been woven in both yellow and blue to indicate how even a similar shape can seem so different in these two mellow and soothing colours.
