Though our artisan Asha is very shy and would not even talk at first but, is a very wise and humble person at heart. From Itawa, Rajasthan, she is a mother of 5 kids; 2 sons and 3 daughters and with pride shares that they support her in whichever way they can. Furthermore, she will surprise you with her observational skills and is a dedicated hard worker.
RekhaAsha started this rug wanting to go easy, and started weaving a pattern of flowers instead of wanting to waste time thinking of ideas. That evening her daughter came up to her and said, “Mamma, you should weave fat lines inside thin ones”. Suddenly inspired by her daughter’s creativity and wanting to see how the design would come out, Asha weaved in the staggering pattern of the rug and etched in symbols of the flora and fauna of the season. Rekha means lines, and Asha wanted to share by example, how a child’s creativity can make life beautiful.
