Sushila is a 40 years-old is a self-taught weaver from Kharkada village in Rajasthan with an experience of over 20 years. Her ambition and drive has yielded to her making her second manchaha. She loves the colour yellow and has a very acute understanding of colours, its contrasts and balances. She is a mother to two boys Shubham and Dipak and two girls Payal and Krishana.
InaamThe rug is named Inaam (translating to ‘prize’ or ‘reward’) because Sushila wants her second Manchaha to win prizes. And to the same end, she says that she has woven different kinds of leheriya patterns because she believes that such rugs win awards. Her deep and nuanced yet instinctive understanding of colours comes across wonderfully in this rug, something that can be attributed to her two decades-long expertise in weaving. The colour balance in the rug is visually appealing and evokes a sense of comfort that is rare.
