Savitri is 25 years old and has been weaving since past 15 years now. You pick a topic and she will narrate an entire story around, you pick a thread and she’ll weave a complete rug with it. She loves weaving ‘Manchaha’, even more than the designed collection wherein she gets a map. She is an ardent believer of the fact that creativity is free and flowing and should not be subject to boundaries.
Seekhte SeekhteSavitri, the weaver of this rug mentioned that her initial experience with the rug was not great; she tried making flowers then soon discovered that it would look more appealing when woven diagonally and she kept going and learning. She then weaved diamonds, trees and mehendi designs in her rug. The rug is very close to her heart because it taught her a major life lesson, ‘practice makes you perfect’. She requested the rug to be named ‘seekhte seekhte’ which means ‘while learning’.
