Maya from Dhanota, Rajasthan is 30 years old and has three young children who go to school every day. She’s been weaving for 12 years, with the last 9 with Jaipur Rugs. She loves weaving because it provides her with income and a hobby that helps her pass the time. Her favorite part of the job, however, is when visitors from abroad come to see the work she’s doing. She hopes to continue to make AO rugs and welcomes any and all people to come see her work.
Rangeela LeheriyaRangeela Leheriya or the colorful Leheriya is a take on the local Leheriya pattern which is quite popular in Indian villages during monsoon. As soon as Maya got her order of Manchaha, she was certain that she will be weaving her favorite, Leheriya pattern this time. Hence, she completed the rug before the provided time. “The rug is close to my heart, I hope it brings abundant happiness to the lives of the one who buys it”, she says with a smile.
