Weaver Nahar Singh is an inmate at the Bikaner Central Jail. This is his first Manchaha rug, and he has learnt weaving in the jail through the prisoners’ rehabilitation project. His rug shows how he has taken his fate in his stride and is now making the most of it by expressing himself through designs that are outcomes of his imagination.
TheraavThe rug, named ‘theraav’, which means ‘stoicity’, is an ode to fate and letting life happen. Along the ebb and flow of things, we often tend to forget to stop and look at the beauty in the little things around us. Nahar Singh’s rug, which features details like flowers, trees, and pots that he sees around him in the jail, encourages you to enjoy serenity and live in the pauses of life.
