Subhash is an inmate at the Bikaner Central Jail. His time at the jail has made him more observant and perceptive of the things around him. He learnt weaving with the prisoners’ rehabilitation project and has also picked up a lot of the skill by observing the other experienced weavers.
Gaur se Dekhna‘Gaur se Dekhna’ means ‘to look closely’ at things. His Manchaha rug features motifs of giant leaves, bottles, the hourglass, stained glass windows and much more. The colours are calm, consistent, and complementary to each other. His rug is testament to the fact that the real beauty lies in the details, and that a Manchaha rug comes to life when the weaver designer translates their own perspective through the design, which is what Subhash’s rug is about. He sees through things keenly and magnifies them to find its inner beauty.
