Ramlal and Vikram are both inmates at the Bikaner Central Jail. They started weaving at the jail itself with the prisoners’ rehabilitation program, and have been honing their skill learning from other experienced weavers at the Bikaner Central Jail. Their Manchaha rug comes together beautifully as they start to sync their thoughts and imagination, translating it through the design of the rug.
Ek Alag SochTranslating to ‘a different thought’, their Manchaha rug ‘Ek Alag Soch’ brings together two different, equally creative minds. The bottom of the rug is muddled and unclear, but it slowly becomes more aligned and uniform as they merge their creative efforts. In the square, we can see a sudden and clear moment, while the rest of the rug’s design takes its time. After all, conflict is in our minds. When you look through a different perspective, things can fall into place serendipitously.
