Ramlal is an inmate at the Bikaner Central Jail. He started weaving at the jail itself with the prisoners’ rehabilitation program, and has since picked up the skill proficiently. His Manchaha rug is an example of his keen understanding of colour, design, and proportions.
Bahav ke SaathAn unusual rug deserves an unusual name like ‘Bahav ke Saath’ which means ‘to go with the flow’. Ramlal’s Manchaha rug shows how we try and control the ups and downs that we experience in our life, forgetting that not everything is not about taking control. The motif of the window and the waves woven above it are symbolic of how these waves begin to feel steady once we learn to float on them.
