Ramphool, aged 41 years is from Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has around one year of weaving experience and started to weave as a part of the prison project because he was looking for something to stay busy with. It soon sparked his interest and he would start weaving intricate patterns at every opportunity. Friendly and playful, he hopes to share his love with his family back home someday.
Pita ka pyaarPita ka pyaar, translates to ‘a father’s love’ is how Ramphool describes his Manchaha rug. Using shades of blue and grey, he has taken a systematic approach to weave designs into his rug. Like many fathers, he displayed a structural approach to his motifs, even completing each pattern that he began. His intention was to show the lesson of perseverance to his children, and the beauty that comes out of it even if mixed in with the darkness. He says, “I love my children, and wanted to share my learnings with them. I wove them into my Manchaha so that the rest of the world can see them too.”
