Jhilmil TaareThere is nothing more beautiful than a dark sky full of stars. In spite of being miles away, their shine brightens our lives. Asha- a weaver - admires all things shiny and weaves them up on her hand-knotted carpet. This Manchaha rug is then named “Jhilmil Taare” meaning “Shining stars”. Her carpet is an ode to the stars. During the process of weaving, she started a design and discontinued it midway creating a new design of its own. There are designs of boxes and “Shakkarpara” (Indian sweets) on the carpet. She creatively involved pencil lines as designs. Asha even used silk yarn to beautify her carpet as it is filled with a variety of colors. The carpet is beautiful and bright with a variety of shapes, patterns and designs creatively weaved.
